Hello
Hope someone can help please.
I have a dirk sheath that has the wood rough and splinter inside the companion knife compartment preventing the fork from being inserted. I think the fork was pushed in wrongly and the fork tines have dug into the wood lining.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can smooth the wood internally without damaging the metal mount that surrounds the aperture please?
Thank you.

Thanks Horsewright for your reply I bought some and they did the job. Thanks again much appreciated.
Good deal and glad that worked out. I’ve never done that but knew what you were talking about and those files were bout the only thing I could think of that could reach down in there. First knife I ever made was a dirk, when I was 17. Handled it with a red deer shed I found while on a hike on Benn Cruachan above Loch Awe. Dang that was nearly 47 years ago. Have no idea what happened to that dirk.
