Scout knife

I can't think of a knife much better suited for such duty! The soldier has the same setup of a basic scout knife with the blade, can opener, cap lifter, and awl. From what I remember of handling scout knives as a kid, the soldier is a bit slimmer and easier to tote in the pocket since it doesn't have that big 'ol bail on the end of the handle. The spartan (or any Victorinox folder for that matter) would make a great scout knife also.

I have a Spartan- it carries very easily, and having the second small knife blade is very helpful. I would go with the Spartan. The soldier is also a good choice too.

If you are looking to buy a regular sized Swiss Army Knife I would go with one of Wengers locking blade models for the Scouts, as Victorinox doesn't make any models in the standard size that lock.
