Scouting some wetland today.

Some bug or virus has hit me the last couple of days so I didn't feel up to a strenuous hike today, instead I figured I'd take a steady stroll around some nearby wetlands and do some scouting around to see what I could find.

Found lots of rabbit scat and even a little rabbit fur.

Found a couple of cool bird pellets, I believe this one might have been from a Red Tailed Hawk.

Found a neat little rodent skull inside !

Only reason I'm guessing a Red Tailed Hawk and not an Owl etc was that I spotted this guy very close by.

Found lots of Deer tracks.

Any guesses what made this track ?

Now this scat was a little worrying, it is feline as it has the twisted up ends and is made up of fur but it definitely looks bigger than a house cat eh, only big kitties round here are Cougars !

Someone has been busy here, I realised I'd probably wandered onto Indian land so decided to back track quickly.

Maisy led the way through the narrow trails.

Spotted this Heron in a tree.

Back at the car, one sick wet Pit !

Just goes to show how a great time can be had in inclement weather.

So when you said you migh have been on Idian land what does that mean and would you have been taken captive?
Since you do not have a full head of hair lol I dought you would have been scalped, but anyways lol
Do they have tribal Police or do the RCMP take care of tresspassers?
so what would really happen for wondering on to the Indian Lands?

It can just be a bit sketchy on their land Bryan, for the most part they run things their way and the police tend to keep out as much as possible. I don't want to run the risk of anything happening to my dogs or even to myself, easier just to keep away !

Pitdog - Are you sure that's a Red Tail? I can't remember ever seeing on perched on the top of a tree before. Looks like a fun place to putz around for a few hours.

Pitdog, understand. Yea I would hate to hear about the pups getting hurt or you too.
It is interesting to hear about such places though. You would think that they would have
signs up sayint private land all non Indain keep out or something like that.
