I'm driving to Williamsburg VA for vacation and want to get about half way on Friday, which puts me around Scranton PA just for a night.

Any tips on hotels or restaurants?

Thanks.

I'm gonna suggest you go to the PA regional thread you might get a faster reply there, no guarantees though. ;)

You can Click Here or look in Community/US Territories/Pennsylvania

I think you'll be happier there as opposed to Scranton, it's not the best place to be after dark.

Good to know. My wife likes the slot machines and even though more expensive, it will be much funner than just staying at a Holiday Inn and watching TV all night.

If I had seen this earlier I would have suggested staying in Wilkes Barre instead of Scranton. There were a few places not far from Mohegan that are considerably cheaper but that was one of the better choices except for price. Twenty more miles south at Hazelton has some nice newer hotels that should be less expensive also.

Just got back. We did spend the night at the Mohegan Sun Poconos in Wilkes Barre. Very nice, kind of expensive but that is to be expected at a casino. My wife "won" $1.99 after being up $250.00 at one point. All on the slots. At least she won. I neither won nor lost as I do not gamble, but she had a good time.

Glad you had a great time, do you find yourself in this neck of the weeds often?

We go to VA quite often and stop in PA on the way down. (I refuse to drive the I-95 corridor so I take 87 to 81 down to 84 and shoot through PA after which we take a number of "short cuts" that my wife has mapped out that only take an extra hour or so :D).

My wife has basically told me that every time we make this run we WILL be stopping at the Mohegan Sun . I think the next time we go is May of 2016. (timeshare in Massanutten VA)
