Living in the coastal southern USA I get the chance to fish alot. I do both fresh and saltwater fishing. I have fallen deeply in love recently with my 460 and use it all of the time. Did I say I love this knife. I use it for many tasks in the house and field. I was thinking how great a filet / boning knife with the same width, height, handle, and grind only longer would be. It could have the same blade taper as the 460 or the taper of a filet knife or offer both. Please oh please Bring it!!

The 460 is dangerous in the kitchen!! Sliced a rack of ribeyes the other day. ....... Like butter! It will be used next fishing trip for sure. Maybe monday if all goes correct

A fillet knife sounds like a great idea. Is the steel flexible on the 460? Have you ever hit bone with it?

If it could be a lot longer for several boning/filleting tasks, maybe in the 7" range (is that what the 700 means? :p is the 460 4.6" long?), I would totally get one. I would probably prefer more something that curves up a bit like some filet knives, with the dropped heel. Sounds awesome for carving.

By the way, what do you mean by height? People usually use width and height to describe the same thing, but you used them both here.

460 is 4.6" so yes it would be 7" for the 700. I meant thickness and height, thanks for catching that.
The 460 is the only size I went for and it has a nice stiff flex to it. I can imagine the additional length would lend to a filet or boning knife type flex. I have used it extensively in the kitchen to trim and bone pork, beef, deer, chicken, and fish. I have cut thru some bone on a few of these critters without a problem at all. It works great to filet the tendon and ligimate tissue out or deer roast prior to cooking. I would not mind a true filet style knife either but which ever style would be very useful.

I've been asking the yard for one with mudders for years.

Elmax so far seems like it would be the finest material to date. Either the mudder handle or the Wardog style (which I have become fond of) would work but I prefer the Wardog of the two especially for a longer blade. Just my preference.

Great idea but the fish in Tx are a little bigger so I think a 8 or 9 LoL. La. has an awesome fishery and I am hating.

YES! I been thinking the same thing... I hate seeing the Big Bubba knife on outdoor channel all the time. It should be a BUSSE:cool:
