I want a convex edge on my Muk and would like to hear from members who have done this. Pix if possible please.
Do you just profile the edge or can the whole blade be profiled?

I just did the edge. Started with waay-too-fine sandpaper on a mousepad. After an hour and getting nowhere, I went to the belt sander. Took about 20 minutes, but it's near impossible for this fat-fingered-fellow to do it right AND not grind into the handle just a bit. Just because of the design.

No pix at work. I'll try and take some. It's possible, but not the easiest blade to do it on.

The 154CM steel is a bit hard to work for me. It heats up fast on the belt sander. It takes and holds a wicked edge, though. Here is my Scrap Muk:

Thanks for the info Dennis & Horn Dog. Thanks for the pix.
Unfortunately I do not have a belt sander, just no place to put it. I am thinking about doing it with sandpaper. I've watched the videos and read some of the posts. This may take a long time to do.

I'd just start pretty aggressive on the sandpaper. Look up the convex threads here on the Busse forum. There's some guy that goes to town on his Rat5 - I'd use that method to get the profile down. If I ever did it again, I'd use that method.

The Scrapmuk really can be a nice slicer if done right. I've got 2 spots where the initial sharpening was so obtuse as to require serious steel removal to get them to convex. Otherwise, it's pretty danged sharp and dangerous.

I had the same issue with my SHBA and reprofiling with an Edge Pro. Just a spot or two that would require a pile of steel removed elsewhere to get the right angles.
