Had a good wood splitting sesh with the Scrap Yard 1111 this arv. Splitting some well seasoned flooded gum. Tough as bloody nails. Even got a got flex on the blade. That's 1/4 inch SR101 baby!!!! Came out straight as a Tasmanian tambourine slapper :D

Looking good. I love the 1111 and have since the first swing into a 2x4.

Not 100% sure that convinces me the blade is straight again at all?!?!?! In fact, it sounds a bit "wonky" to me, mate.:D

A pic of the blade laying on glass might help.;)

Glad ya had a good time and thanks for the photo's!

Oh... and it's obvious Saber Grinds and Res-C are a beautiful thing!!!

haha yeah probably should've picked a better analogy. How about "as straight as a Jackaroo's tally whacker at a B & S ball"?

I love the 1111,, "poor mans Battle Mistress" as LegalEagle put it.
I stripped and polished mine, she bites deeep now, maybe not as deep as a Jackaroos tally wacker,,but deep [emoji16]

ooo I like the stripped look! Might have to do that to mine now :)

So the scrap yard blades are 101 steel too? Sounds like these may just represent THE bargain in the Busse family.

SR-101 for the big ones. Some small ones were made in INFI and ELMAX for blade shows. There are old models in SR-77 I believe.

"A good wood splitting sesh" with anything Busse is so much more therapeutic than any anger management class....just sayin':D

Your stripper looks fantastic RCB! I'm still trying to strip mine the old fashioned way, lol. Got a ways to go on the 1111 just to catch up on the '13.

Went vine hunting in the woods today. The 1111 is a beast. Did a ton of chopping, my arms are jello :D

A few I snapped along the way:

This big sucker goes way, way up.

After pic of the same vine lower down. This one was a bear. I was wearing down, it was thick and tough. It also tried to soak up my blows like a shock absorber, but after a minute or so, success.

This blade is a champ, but with any blade it can sometimes be hard to get a good angle of attack on the vines. They can swing, flex, or bounce and make it hard to get a good bite or cause glancing blows, generally contributing to fatigue.

The 1111 really shines sectioning up long pieces over a downed log, where you can transmit a huuuge amount of power and plow through even bigger stuff with one blow, good stuff.
