Spine Shot comparison. the 1311 is a tad bit thinner!

Chopping through some very hard seasoned black walnut

compared to the B11. It took literally twice as many swings to get to about the same depth with the B11. The 1311 is a monster.

And how deep do they bite into some seasoned maple
B11 first! pretty dang nice.

and there was much more beating and testing that took place but my phone has no memory so the pictures are limited lol. I will say this. this thing soars through green wood up to about 1.5 inches thick like it's nothing. literally the first 3 slices of it went straight through the first branch and dead into my metal fence. no blade damage so that was good. me being the smart guy I am it took me 3 times to figure it out. So I changed the angle of the dangle so I would miss the fence but this thing would not only go through the branch your trying to cut but also the one underneath it. pretty amazing heavy duty machete if you ask me.

So after all the beatings, hitting the fence and stuff your asking how was the edge retention right? well me too :) and as with most all bussekin knives it was superb. it wasn't shaving super smooth but it was still taking the hair off w/ minor pulling instead of the effortlessness. and it sliced paper like it hadn't been used

Give yourself some credit. That report was worth one MILLION times more than what it cost me! ;)

Yep. I was up late last nite. Couldn't stop the urge, and threw the 1311 in the shopping cart.

I have a patch of small trees and shrubs I was hoping to clear with the 1311. These reviews are killing me!!!!!!

Looks like a fine cutter! The thinner edge facilitates that mean 'bite', something that happens on a regular basis with fine tuned machetes. Here you have the benefit of a very strong steel paired with a super, well balanced short machete platform. This knife has honestly made me have second thoughts about retiring the Basic 9, something I thought I'd never do. Machete lovers are licking their chops over this offering. The kicker here is that Dan made it light enough to gather the speed needed for effective and efficient shopping. The thickness of the 1311 is optimal at 3/16th of an inch.

I figure that the 1311 paired with a small, sharp skinner would just about cover all bases out there in the field. One of the best (if not the best) things to come out of the dark corners of Dan's mysterious shop. Snag one while you are still able.

I just picked mine up at the PO this morning. I only had time to unwrap one and hold it for a few minutes but it was great.

Lighter than I exspected.

I only wish it had the Regulater handle as the handle seemed a bit narrow.

As I held it I was comparing it (in my mind) to the Rodent 9 - similar price but very different blades.

In a choice between the 2 I'd go for the 1311.

Great review G.S!

Man!!!! The waiting is killing me!

Thanks for the awesome review

I can't wait to get my two 1311's... :) I'm starting to get anxious! I lust after them more and more after seeing threads like this. :D

Thanks everyone. I did leave out the weight difference between the two. The 1311 weights a measles 1.2 ounces more.

I sold my B11 because it was a little light in the chopping department. I cant wait for my 1311!

That's a behemoth of a knife. With that being said it isn't quite as overbuilt as I had expected. All in all a very nice chopper for those who desire such a beast.
