This saw looks different from the tac saw style or the saw back elmax. Can we get more pictures boss man?

Bossman,
Can we assume that this particular sawback is more suited for actually sawing (.100) versus others that were more designed for notching?

Thanks for your reply,

Based on the pics, I’m thinking probably not, which is unfortunate because Busse has already demonstrated that they can make a functional sawback knife - the SawManDu.

It’s got a full flat grind, which in addition to the pull-action actually makes it work quite well as a (slow) saw. That’s why I got it.

The Stickleback, with a saber grind, probably won’t create an adequate kerf to work well as a saw.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I'd sure think the Stickleback should work just as well since the thickest part of the blade is where the saw edge is, the rest of the blade is relieved all the way down to the edge so it shouldn't bind up and would instead provide plenty of chip clearance.

While the saw back doesn't really have any kerf to it, the teeth are straight up, that extra clearance the high saber grind provides should be advantageous to the saw function I'd sure think.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work half decent as a small saw.

ETA : While it doesn't have the full flat grind which you're right, would be best, I'd think since this is such a high saber it should/could be pretty decent for sawing. But I now see better what you mean too about having the flats of the blade on the Stickleback being a cause for concern for binding as opposed to the full flat grind like the SawManDu has.

Fresh out of the package.....

Love this thing! Cannot wait to put my own edge on it and start using it. Will definitely have to try out the saw and report back.

Really liking this 5" blade length. The Res-C just makes it that much better too. Such a great handle material.

For those who care about such details, it's about .025-026 BTE along the straight portion and only thickens to about .027 on the sweep out to the tip.

This high saber grind and the thinner stock really keeps it nice and thin throughout. Spine measures .110 on the nose.

This is going to be a really great user!

Thanks Busse and Scrapyard crew!
