That's the website. They tell you all about them.

I have a dogfather and it is a great chopper. I love the Res-C material. It's nice and shock absorbing. conforms well to the hands and is nice and tacky for a good grip.

Busse focus on high end "tough" knives but it is too expensive. Swamp Rat initially and then Scrap Yard their attempt to take piece of low priced knives market. They use cheaper but not much less performing (for their use cases) steel with same Busse HT (52100 and S7) and cheaper handle materials (which may in some applications be even better then what Busse has) so price is much less then their regular production. This also make them more practical - not everybody who can afford Busse also can afford using it without thinking of price tag...

However with close to main production quality Swamp Rat now turns into high end knives too, may be not as high as Busse itself, but pretty close. And I think same may happen to ScrapYard.

In general it is same Busse quality but affordable.

Thanks, Vassili.

They are made largely from materials "obtained" from the other Busse family companies, Swamp Rat and Busse Combat. Scrap Yard's SR77 is probably some of the toughest steel you can buy and without doubt the toughest knives you can buy at that price point.

Don't have any Scrapyards, but own a few Swamp Rats. They (the entire Busse family) are extremely tough knives, far stronger than anything I am likely to throw at them. Do a bit of searching on the net (try youtube) and you will see what others have done to push these knives to the limit. One of my favorites is one of the Swamp's smallest- the Swamp Warden- great little blade, very utilitarian. One of the very few knives I'd ever attempt to pry with. Some of the better choppers you will find. Lifetime warranty second to none.

I own all but one model scrapyard, and they are made from leftover steel that busse had. I like them, they are tuff no nonsense knives at an affordable (to me) price. I like the resperine-C handles that the old Swamp Rat knives used to have (I have some of them too) they have a release coming soon of some 154CM knives.

Read the scrapyard page and read the forum, there's lots of reviews and comparisons throughout.
