Scrap Yard Regulators

Scrap Yard?

Whassat?

:p

This is the Swamp, we dont need no scrap. :D

Hmmmm. Let's see . . .

Original Swamp Rat alloy . . . SR101. Check!
Original Swamp Rat handle material . . . Res-C. Check!

Smells like scrap to me. ;) :D

why the hell isn't the yard making anything with SR-77 anymore? I guess it's a cool deal for everyone who's been dying to get a knife they can't actually use for anything.

Maybe that's why Dan increased the weight of the production version and emphasized the fact that it could outchop its predecessor. Seems to me it would be much easier to sell the Regulator to civilians as a mid-sized chopper/camp knife than as a fighter.

Maybe because Dan ran out of SR-77 scraps. ;)

It got alotta love from the people who had the test team version and sounds like he's selling scads to the military.

This is probably a conversation we should be having on the Scrap Yard forum. As for me, I can't wait for the Regulators to get out of the way so Eric's HRLMs, RMDs and Swamp Wardens can get here. Talk about knives you can actually use for something . . . :D

Yeah, and *I* am the one who is negative

I'm sorry but if you can't find a use for a 7.5 inch long blade of SR-101, over a 1/4 inch thick, then I don't think there's going to be a knife you'll be able to use.

This knife will do just fine and I'm willing to bet that it will do more than most anyone who buys it will ever need,

Particularly at under 100? That's just ridiculously amazing pricing.

hrmm, yeah, I hate being able to slice things with my cutlery. :p

Are you serious? You really think that this is one of the more universal knives as far as the variety of applications at which it will excel is concerned?

The full flat ground test team version was a decent slicer for its thickness, and an awesome camp knife - robust point for tip work, good ergos, thick full flat for splitting firewood, variety of grips for chopping leverage. It outperformed some medium thickness camp knives at some camp chores, and matched them in many others.

The only sticking point was the guard, which hasn't been changed in the release version. By switching to a saber grind they have increased chopping ability, and sacrificed a few other areas. If you like to chop, it will be right up your alley, but I have a feeling I will prefer the test team version after I've tried both.

But the Regulator, especially the test team version, was a LOT more of a balanced all-around camp knife than you might give it credit for at first glance. I was very pleasantly surprised with mine.

I'm with you. Hard decision to pass on anything coming from the Yard, but I'm likely holding off on the Reg so I can get the RMD and SW instead. Have much more use for these than a combat blade right now. However, it is an insanely sweet deal that Dan is offering on the Reg mil overrun for anyone who can use one.
