I was approached and asked to make a grill scraper.

How could I say No...

This might be the nicest scraper on This side of the Mississippi.

Very Hard, air dried cherry scales, harder than oak. Fun to work with. These boards are over 20 years old, coming from a huge tree at my friend's parents house. Off topic, but I picked cherries their once, and made the Best, Kriek. (Beer)

I like this project! The lumber is very nice and it's good that you laminated it- looks sweet, too.

What method did you use in bending the blade?

I didn't spend the amount of time or effort making this, like I would one of my knives.
There still are some nicks and dings, and scratches on it.... Oh wait, maybe I did? Lol

But actually, I Still have around 3 hours into it being my first, I Over think everything.
I did try to make it good still though.... The wood is bookmatched. You can see that dark line near the rear, by my flarred pin. It matches direction as it goes through the wood on both side of the handle.

*I used a press break to bend it. But I'm sure you could of pounded it around a block to get it to work as well.....

I doubt anyone on this page will notice, but years ago I'm kinda Infamous for making Becker-handled spatulas..... (Camping, tough, hatchet-like) YES, they Chop!

I'm leaning towards making some "Thanks Brand" spatulas too, now that I do That kind of stuff for real

Very nice. On which side of the Mississippi are you (asking for a friend)? :p

Haha....Depends if the water is High, or really..............Low.
Ehhhh
Haha.....That doesn't even make sense.

I'm in Wisconsin.

very cool!
What kind of steel do you use for something like this? Does it need to be high carbon/knife grade stainless?

For something Stupid like this, it could literally be
Anything. These were Stainless, off hand I don't have the grade in front of me. Not knife steel.

Some of my spatulas are AEB-L though.

Lately, I've been daydreaming about making some insane putty knives, maybe more like "gum-scrapers".....idk how well received they will be? 🤣
