scrapivore or eskabar

Bk14. The scrapivore is double the price
Why not beat on a less expensive knife that can take just as much abuse?

I have an Izula an Eskabar and a Scrapivore I use the Eskabar way more. I do like them all but the wide flat ground blade of the Bk14 just seems to work better for most things , I also think the Eskabar is the most easily sharpened of the bunch and it holds an edge just about the same as the others. I think one factor is the scales I have for the Bk14 are more hand filling and therefore more comfortable.

I personally would get the eskabar,,I am more into the performance then the name,, guess that's why I am such a becker fan!!

I've heard some people say the chisel tip (on the handle) makes their hand hurt, but other than that I've heard good things about it (the scrapivore).

The BK14 of course has lots of people that like them as well.

Can't go wrong with either, but like its been said, the BK14 is cheaper, while being just as sturdy.

I have an izula and an izula 2, I love them. I don't much care for the blade shape of the 14(I'm sure I'll catch hell for saying that), but the izula is great.

While I love SR-101 steel, I find the handle on the scrapivore to be really uncomfortable, but I love the feel of my eskabar, very usable knife IMO. If you want a good bussekin necker try to find a Swamp Warden, my absolute favorite neck knife and much better ergos IMO than the scrapivore.

If you plan on using it or God forbid really need to use it extensively..... you're gonna hate yourself for getting the Scrapivore. It's a neat little knife and I have one but the chiseled handle end.....chisels right into your palm. The handle on the EsKabar is an improvement over the BK11 and it's rocket science to the Scrapivore.... the blade/business end is great but the chisel/pry-bar end renders it useless as far as I'm concerned.

The only Swamp Rat knife that fit's the role you're looking for is the Swamp Warden, whole different story there. Really comfortable handle and great little knife but bang for the buck not what you're gonna get with the EsKabar. The other obvious choice is the ESEE Izula II, I have all of these and my list goes like this:

1. Izula II.... All the time.

2. EsKabar.... sometimes (depends on kit)

3. Scrapivore..... I open letters with it (and make Kydex sheaths for it)

Hope this helps,

Eli

The Swamp Warden should be high on that list and I don't know why it is yet but I'll incorporate it into one of my kits. Just noticed the first post BRab made and im in agreement on him with this knife.

have you ever used any bussekin knives?

I own a swamprat warden and a chopweiller, excellent blades, but I feel for what buckmaster is asking he would be better served with the eskabar for the money... just my opinion.

ESKABAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
less money and you get more!
why not?
