I'm wondering what percentage of the Scrapper 5's have the dip on one side of the blade as shown at around 9:00 min into this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k75QQemkZ0Q

Mine has it and I'm curious to see if anyone has done anything about it such as having it reground. I contacted Tom Krein and he sounded like he could do a regrind that would eliminate it.

My Infi LE had it and my CG has it. The INFI LE was sent back to SY and they took care of it (replaced?) and you can't see it anymore. My CG is a beater, so it's no big deal. SY has great customer service!

Whose foot is that???? OUCH!

The sound was messed up on my end and I couldn't hear.

Instead of paying Tom to regrind, you might have Scrapyard take care of it for free. Unless, of course, you want a Krein regrind to thin the edge to improve slicing. That would then eliminate the warranty, AFAIK.

Good call, I'll look into it and report back.

Renee at Scrap Yard said send it in and they'll take care of it. I'll probably include a note to have them call me to discuss the fix before they start.

What were they using to strip the blade? I really like the look of my LE, but my CG is my user knife.

Mine has this "defect", but i wouldn't have noticed it if someone had not pointed it out. On an art knife i pay attention to aesthetic perfection because well, that's the idea - the piece is decorative (and hopefully also functional). But Bussekin, and of those especially Scrap Yard, are like a set of spanners. Don't get me wrong - i have a soft spot in my heart for a set of well-used Snap-On wrenches, and have a sixty-some year old set that i use regularly. But i wouldn't notice any "defect" to them unless it was something like a crack that affects performance, or a really glaring screw-up in the manufacturing. Same goes for all high-end tools. just one opinion. I love my Scrap Yards (and Busse Combats and Swamp Rats), but i really don't care if they are pretty or not (and if they are, they don't stay that way for long).

I could care less about the aesthetics of the knife. This is my main camping blade and my issue arose when trying to sharpen on a bench stone. With the dip, it's impossible to get a proper edge on that side. If I were using a rod or a spyderco sharpmaker it may not be an issue but since I don't own the sharpmaker and prefer to sharpen on a large stone, it turns into a major flaw. I've never owned another blade with this type of problem. I'm not knocking Scrap Yard though, I'm sure they'll treat me right. The Scrapper 5 is IMO the perfect knife for camping. It is light for it's size, the handle shape and material is amazing. The blade length is perfect and the SR-101 takes a very fine edge.

Well, it's in the mail today. It felt weird shipping off this knife. It's definitely one I won't part with. I can't wait to hear from them to see what can be done to it.
