You might get a better response in the SY forum; we don't want any mangy, flea-bitten mongrels in here! :D

Yes I do. The heat treat thats put on the 154cm is wicked. The knife holds an edge real well...better than my other knives in that steel. I have used it for everything from woodcraft to camp chores and some food work. Has done very well by me. At first I didnt want the flat spot before the edge on the blade but it works real well when you get used to it. The res-c mudder grips are comfortable. For the price its a sweet knife.

These are some pre-use old pics.

Jeez barrabas... You really should USE that ASH1...

Seriously... with regard to edge retention, how would you compare the Muk to SR101 or INFI? 60%???? Better...

Thanks

I know I know that ASH-LE is really begging to be used but I just dont have the heart to scratch the blade up;)

Honestly....I'll have to do some work on that. Just to clarify you mean 60 percent of the edge retention of INFI an SR101? Going with that as your meaning. Its still tuff to say. I havent used all 3 side by side and usually when I start using one camping or whatever I stick with it for most of the time and then the next time use a different one. So I dont want to go on memory alone.

I think for slicing ability/edge retention its better than 60 from just my use. For wear resistance I need to do alot more work with em. Again its from memory and just doing different things with the different knives so its tuff for me to say. I tend to use my small infi knives for different types of chores. I use my AD's for field dressing and everything from splitting crabs to edc chores. My Bandicoot I have put through hell and looks worse than that ASH and maybe less coating:eek:....its my lil bad arse knife. However I have a convex edge on the Coot and V's on the other two so its not fair to go by memory on that. This weekend I'll take 1 of each an check it out: My Muk, S5 and BAD (maybe my fav AD). And go through some edge retention work.

INFI is easier to sharpen..than the other two but neither SR101 or SY 154cm were "easy". so thats why I am going with the Higher RC BAD on this one (figure it fair). I really like all 3 steels and dont think any of them will leave ya wanting.

I hope this gives people SOME clarity. I'd love to give a strait answer and hopefully by sunday I can.

Cool! All of the sudden I feel the need for a Bandicoot... ;):D

I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the three steels. I don't think it has ever been done before... but I'm drunk a lot... so.. .who knows. ;)

I know that the 154 won't take the beating that the others will take, but the Muk is clearly not designed for 'hard-use' it is a slicer. I just wonder how it would hold up vs. the other steels in a cut-off.

Therefore... I hereby throw down the gauntlet (and fart in your general direction) :p and challenge you to provide some fine Sunday reading by giving us a comparison cut-off between the three steels.

I remain concerned about your 'safe-queens'. ;):D

Thanks in advance!
