Hi! I'm pretty new to all of this so forgive me if this is a noob question.

Will the grind differences in the parkerized hollow grind version of the newer regulator http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af137/liukang187/liukang187001/June 2014/208_zpsb2606c08.jpg make any difference in performance compared to the saber grind of the older? http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o310/scrapyardknives/RegulatorBowieBlack.jpg

I will be using it as a bushcraft/survival knife. That means lots of wood chopping, splitting (batoning), little bit of slicing and a lot of heavy use basically...

Also while I have all your attention, what would I use to sharpen this knife/what should I use to clean it with after each use?

Thanks for your time all! :))

Stick with the saber grind -- it's heftier and it begs to chop through redwood trees.

I agree with Rob_Mob ^^^ I have both flavors and the Sabre grind just feels like it has more heft. The hollow grind although slices with ease and came razor sharp ! Both come with one of if not the best warrantys in the business. Now the sabre grind is coated and hollow is parkerized which needs a little minor attention to prevent rust. With that said I don't think you'll go wrong with either blade
For sharpening if you use the search you'll find some great info in there

Regulator => my favorite Res-C handle for medium-large to large knives.

(War Dog => my favorite Res-C handle for medium-small knives)

What you really need is a Full Flat ground one. Absolute best of the bunch.

Don't think any will fail you but in your choices the saber will be tougher. Sharpen how you sharpen other knives.

I wipe any gunk off and haven't had any problems with the blades. Just use them.
