Being a newbie to knife collecting, I wanted one tough knife, so I bought a Scrapyard scrapper 6 off the forum. (I bought it from Impact. A perfect transaction.) I love the knife and never had a knife that feels so good in my hand, but I have a few stupid questions. So, I hope you all have patience with me. What does the word INFI mean? I'm no fan of rubber handles, but this one feels great. How does resiprene-c hold up? Is the blade steel SR-77 used in all the scrapeyard scrapper-6 knives? Thanks

infi is the steel most busses, and all newer models, is made from. sr77 is a tool steel, s7 is the base. you can read about both on their respective sites.

INFI is Busse Combat's proprietary Blade steel and heat treat. The Resiprene C holds up great, and is the only "rubber" handle I know of that is unconditionally guaranteed.
Not all Scrapyard knives will be made from SR-77, although many will. The latest was actually made from INFI. See this thread posted by Jerry about it.

I have the Scrapper 6 and LE, as well as the Street Scrapper 4 on it's way. They are great knives.

The res-c will hold up where similarly handled knives (rubber handled) of other brands will crumble. It is very tough stuff. And you don't have to worry about it coming loose from the tang like with some other brands. One neat little thing about res-c is that say there is a slice in the res-c. You can actually take a match, heat it up, push it back together, and it is as good as new. Do it very carefully and I defy anyone to tell me that they can see the difference. Welcome to SRKW!!

I've done that myself. OTE doesn't lie. Honestly, resiprene-c holds up incredibly well. It's not as pretty as G10 or micarta but, for many, it is the most comfortable of grips for a true working knife.

The resiprene-c clad mojo that SYK had at Blade 2006 was, for me, the best feeling Mojo yet produced!

Either way, I believe Scrap Yard offers the same lifetime warranty as the other blades from Wauseon: Swamp Rat and Busse.

Congrats! The Scrapper 6 LE is one of my favorite blades!

The balance of the scrapper 6 is perfect. The knife feels as if it's part of my hand. Two other questions if you don't mind (you guys have been great)! What is a penetrator tip? The tip of my blade seems plenty sharp. Whenever I buy something I REALLY like, I have to have 2 of them. I ordered a custom sheath for my scrapper 6, so what other busse knife would be the same configeration with mircarta or G-10 handle so it would fit my new sheath. Last questions, I promise.
Thanks again

The M6 from Swamp Rat has the same profile, although I can't say if it will fit the same sheath exactly. It has a micarta handle, is made from SR-101 steel, and can be found at "ratknives.com". Great knife.

back to front. a swamprat camptramp may fit your new sheath, though not perfectly. a busse satin jack tac may also fit.

the penetrator tip has the upper swedge area ground on both sides, giving it four grinds toward the tip. two from the edge profile, and two on the top, thus making a spear type tip, and better for stabbing because there is less friction. although i have yet to stab anything with my knives that have these tips.

If you go on the Scrapyard forum, you'll see a couple of penetrator tipped Scrapper 6's are out there. Lucky dogs...no p.t. love on my Scrapper. :(
Mine is reprofiled to a much thinner edge and I have had no edge issues chopping cherry. Great value on great blades :)

I wish i would have got a scrapper 6 I tried but they were out. I probably could not have afforded an INFI scrapper 4 which is on it's way. I would actually prefer a res c handle to micarta on a big knife like the upcoming scrapper bowie.
The res c provides alot of cushion compared to g10 or micarta. The INFI scrapper 4 is possibly the best knife deal I have ever got in on personaly.
