Scrapyard SOD or Yard Guard?

I have a SOD 7.5 " blade and will soon be getting a Yard Guard 7" blade.

One will be used and the other stored in the safe.

For those of you that have handled both...which would be better for an all around camp knife. No chopping large limbs, I will have an axe- but maybe the impromptu small branch chopping, cutting rope, meat chopping etc. BTW I also have a Rat RC-3 that I carry.

I had wanted a yard guard, reverse curve blade just appeals to me but could never find one. Then the SOD came up and I got one from Scrapyard knives new production...then here comes a Yard Guard for sale and I bought that. I could go and use both and see what I like better, but then the blade coating would be scratched up on the eventual non-user knife.

Thanks for the input-James

I would have to believe if you were looking for a "SAFE QUEEN" out of the two the SOD would be the one to store. IMHO. Both would do outstanding in camp. But there are a boatload of Yard Gaurds out there. I have a Dogfather LE and though I don't use it much ( I have a FBM I use more) it has been used but looks pretty sweet still. I hear great things about the YG. It's kinda the same as my Scapper 6 but with a recurve... Have Fun with em!!!

I have both and I love the SOD. Great all round knife, if you don't have one , you need to get one or two.

I'm not a really big fan of using recurved blades so I would put the Yard Guard in the safe and use the SOD. If you're looking to store a knife with the intent of selling it later on for more than you bought it for, I'd suggest storing the SOD. In any case, store one and beat the hell out of the other!
