maybe i'm going blind, but i could not find a dedicated forum for Scrapyard. wasn't sure if the question should go here or General Knife. if i chose incorrectly, could a mod move it for me? thanx.

i'm considering a Scrapper 6 LE but wanted to hear from people who have used Scrapyard knives with the Resiprene C handle in a kydex sheath. i made a kydex sheath for a friends Gerber big rock and it was tricky keeping the edge of the kydex from tearing the soft rubber of the handle. how is the Reisprene C in this regard? i plan on flaring the lips a little to try to keep the actual edge of the kydex off the handle material, but need to know just how prone to tearing this material is. will in be comparable to the soft rubber used on my friends Gerber Big Rock? or harder/stiffer?

thank you.

Res C is some great stuff..it's my preferred handle material now. A bunch of folks at scrapyardknives.com forum feel the S6 is a defining blade from the Scrapyard.

My Camp Tramp has developed some rub marks from my sheath, but it's a user so I don't really care and keep the knife unsheathed most of the time anyway.

Scrap Yard Main Site is here:

Scrap Yard Forum is here:

But be patient. The forum is down right now. Hopefully it will be up again shortly.

thanks, but i've been there, i meant a dedicated section on HERE because we have a section for everyonelse it seems (Rat, Almar, HI, Busse, etc).

it's a moot point, now, anyway. i just discovered the knives shown on their site are previous offerings (correct?) and are not actually in stock. i thought they were the one leg of the trio that didn't use the whole "bob and weave" sales style. now that i know buying a SY is the same as (trying to) buy any other Bussekin, i'll pass. i have a Waki that i love, it is of incredible quality (it's a few yards away, in my car, right now), but i'm not willing to go through the whole - wait, preorder, search the secondary, and all that when there's so many other options. i realize now that i have the only Bussekin blade i ever will.

Dan decided not to add a Scrap Yard subforum to Bladeforums. I, for one, am glad he didn't. And I truly understand your position with respect to buying Bussekin knives. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.

Try to keep in mind that Bussekin knives are NOT production knives. They are LIMITED production knives. As a result, you have to deal with a whole different dynamic if you want to purchase Bussekin knives . . . a dynamic that's acceptable to some and unacceptable to others.

Good luck in your future knife purchases. :)

dont see what the big deal is, seeing as you dont pay them until theyre ready to ship anyway...youre missing out on alot.
the regulator is available now actually...

there is no "bob and weave" tactic. its pretty simple...you pre-order, wait till thats done, then they make and ship them. keeps production cost down

Yep... I just order and forget about it (try)... That style also helps some of
us out by giving us a couple months to get out finances in order....

Works out well for me...

But,some people want immediate gratification, which I can certainly understand..

it's a long story, but i wasn't really happy with the circumstances surrounding my last purchase. i have nothing bad to say, it was just not the type of thing i like. i'm leaving it at that.

i wish i could delete this whole thread - i thought the knives shown were available, i needed info on handle material, i found out they weren't, i don't need to know anymore.
