Scratch help?

Hey all, I was doing sone maintenance and cleaning my knives. I used a soft bristled dishes brush to clean the knife. I've used the brush to clean my knives for years and have never had issues.

I don't know if I was being really aggressive this time but I got some horizontal scratches on the blade.

I use my knives and don't care about keeping them in pristine condition but I would like to get the scratches out if possible.

Any ideas?

Getting them out will be pretty invasive... it would involve sanding below the level of the scratches then restoring the grind lines... you could make them less noticeable by trying to polish the blade but polishing won't make them really go away...

Make sure to tape off the spalting whatever you do during restoration and also always go spine to edge in any restoration work

I could go into more detail if you want but I'd probably just live with them and think of it as more patina....

Another option is to send it in for spa treatment at fiddleback forge

Here's one I did... got it used like this

Honestly, the only thing you can do is regrind it, embrace it, or patina over it.

Pay the shop $50 for a full spa treatment. You can't mimic the factory belt grind by handsanding.

Alternately, count it as a mark of honor or dunk it in hot apple cider vinegar a few times...

From here forward, the spa service will begin at $50. This covers the re-sanding, re-marking and re-edging of the knife. Other services will add additional costs.

The Spa Treatment is just for cleaning up knives that have been used. Not re-grinding the bevels.

Good stuff to know...Thanks Heespharm!

Use it like you stole it, and was meant to be used. Soon enough you won't notice the scratches.

Send it in. I want it looking nice. I think that model should definitely be on the underrated list. I'd like to see more pics, and I don't mind trading those for helping keep it looking great.

I think nothing more can be said about Andy the crew's awesome customer service. If I had more thumbs they would be up.

Thank you for the input! I tried to send this through a PM but for some reason it won't let me.

What process do I need to complete for sending it in or where can I find your information? I don't know if you have a service form that needs completed, etc.....

I will try to send a PM on my home cpu. Thanks a bunch!!
