I bought a Busse used and it has some scratches. Can i get a higher return of investment for it in the future or not? Its an ASHBM LE

You can't ask questions about pricing without a paid membership.

Also, how many threads are you going to create about your concerns with your ASHBM? I mean no offense, but perhaps it's time to either finally use it and enjoy it, or pass it on along down the line.

Correct. Whiteshield, please either upgrade to Gold level membership or retract your posted question.
Thank you.

No, I'd sell it for 1/4 the price you paid for it while you still can!

If it's scratched it's likely useless... Damaged goods and a potential hazard to the user--I'll do ya a favor and properly dispose of that bad apple for ya! Send it to me post-haste...

No one uses their Busse's. Those scratches render it worthless. I'll give you two dollars to recycle it for you.

This.

Anyway, it's a knife, not an investment. You may, but are not sure to, make a profit should you resell in the future...there's no :censored:ing shortage of Busse blades out there such that any generic blade will meaningfully appreciate in value. I would go so far as to say that given transaction costs (time, shipping, packing, paypal fees) you are even unlikely to net more than you paid regardless of the condition in which you sell the knife. Doing a return on investment analysis for a spa treatment seems ridiculous to me.

Price reduction is as follows.
For every "scratch" that is 1/4" or longer deduct $175. For every scratch 1/2" or longer deduct the value of the knife plus 50%. Sounds like you may owe your knife money. Feel free to send it to one of us for proper scratch enhancements.

Return it, sell it, or use it. Most importantly, put it behind you.

Knock $50 off and sell it and write it off as an education to only buy from honest, reputable secondary market sellers.

What did you expect when you bought a used knife? Generally use equals scratches, most people who buy used knives intend to USE them when they arrive… not speculate on resale value.
This is what I meant to say....thanks for doing it for me Mag.

Ok, so now that you've been beaten mercilessly...
Go out and use that knife like it screams to be used. Scratches don't hurt its performance at all. And in fact, there is debate on here (not much debating; people seem to accept it) that you are in fact getting a better knife by having a used one that has been resharpened, as supposedly the sharpening on a belt at the shop renders the edge more brittle.

Keep it, use it, enjoy it. Or sell it at a loss and lose a good knife.

And btw, love the Rottie avatar. I miss my Rottie--he passed a while ago.

Thanks Aias. That is our third, but I lost my boy in 2013. It still hurts to think of him, but this one is a great addition to the family.

I personally love the scratches on mine. Adds character. But if it is bothering you, I am sure there are those of us on here that would be willing to give it a good home to live out its life with other like minded blades. It will be happier that way.

Glad to hear the new guy is fitting in, and I totally get the hurt; I still miss mine and it has many, many years--I think once my little ones get a bit older, I may have to get me another. "Max" was my boy... he was an excellent member of our family pack.

Now... about that ASHBM LE... let's have a look at her. A nekkid Mistress with a few scars has gotta be a looker... ;)
