Im just learning to use the sharpmaker and I scratched the side of my benchmade 520 its made of 154cm steel in case you didnt know. Is there anyway to buff this out and if so what products can I get to do this? I really wanna restore this if I can its almost brand new :/

Ouch!

It's a bit late now, but you should practice a lot on old knives before you attack a brand new 520!

It may be best to return the knife to Benchmade for them to see if they can help.

I don't think Benchmade would be too sympathetic to my home sharpening mishaps but I guess you never know. I'll chalk it up to a lesson learned this is an EDC work knife. I can always buy more. :)

Harsh scratches need to be sanded out, this takes a lot of time. If you are using the knife it gets scratched when cutting anyway so it isn't an issue.

My experience is that they would be.

My 710 came with an uneven bevel. While trying to even the bevel out I badly scratched the blade with a diamond file.

I sent the knife in to Benchmade, expecting to pay for a blade replacement, but they returned the knife to me with a new blade - and with no charge!

I'm not saying that they'll do the same for you if there was no problem with your 520 to start with, but the most you'll have to pay for is a new blade.
