Scratches on 923 guard

I recently bought a Limited Edition 923 Wilde Bill Cody which was advertised as new in an unopenned box. When received it did appear to be unopenned as the "pilfer proof" tape around the box looked to be original. For the most part, the knife appears perfect with the exception of the guard. Under good light there are small scratches on the guard which I've included pictures of. I sent an inquiry to Buck customer service to see if this is normal and notified the seller and am waiting to hear from both. I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience with a Buck item.

Was the knife wrapped while in the box? If not this could be from movement of the knife against the side of the box.

It was wpapped with a foam piece, in the black box, and the black box was in the heavy cardboard box which was sealed with the pilfer proof tape.

It's been a few days since I sent my inquiry to Buck and still haven't heard from them. The pfstore email is the one I used, perhaps it's not the right one, but I found no email address for customer service on the website. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
