Hello all. first thread on here.
I'm finishing up some last little details on a fixed blade in S35VN and hand rubbed 400 grit finish and I accidently got some micro scratches on it up by the handle and and was wondering if I could get some suggestions on how to get them out without getting more on it.
any help/suggestions would be greatly apricated.

Regards Joseph.

Show a pict would help.

But the only way to get out scratches is by making more scratches, that is the nature of sanding.

Here's a photo (sorry, this is the highest quality I could upload) I get the only way to get out scratches is by making more I just don't want any J hooks and I want them to be uniform and in the same direction.

Tape up the front of the scales.
Take a paint stiringstick and grind a 60 degree angle on one of the long sides.
Use that sharp edge as your sanding stick and use oil or wd40 on the paper.
Place the sandpaper on the blade next to the scale and pull only towards the point

What Hengelo said.

Also in cases like this 3M polishing cloths really do a good job

Thank you guys for your help. I tried using a piece of hardwood about 3/4“ wide (so I could be more precise) with about a 30 degree angle to get a more acute “edge“ and I couldn’t get it perfect, so I used another piece of wood (about the same size as the last) and glued a VERY thin piece of leather to it and used green polishing compound to get the scratches out, it’s not quite perfect yet but it is working (and it’s taking a lot of time)

Regards Joseph.
