i have a problem with some of my knives having scratches on the blades. it is mostly on the tip and on one side only. what can i do about? they are good enough knives to keep and use. can i send them back to the company? are they under warranty? so many knives, so many questions. please help. thanks jack:confused:

Did they come like that, or did you scratch them while using them? And any way, if you want to use them they will get scratched up anyway, so why worry? Just my two cents.

Jack, did they come with scratches when you bought them or did they they just get scratched during use? If they got scratched during use, the warranty will not cover that. It's considered normal wear and tear. Scratches are inevitable when you use knives, so go ahead and use them. That's how you really appreciate a knife's quality. :)

Nothing wrong with a scratch or two IMO. As mentioned, it gives a knife character...it makes it yours.

jack lowe,

If the scratches are not real deep you may be able to polish them out with Flitz or a product like it. If they are to deep for that and you want to do it yourself you can polish them out with rouge and a polishing wheel or pay someone to do it. Scratches are not going to be covered by warranty. If the knife is a use I wouldnt worry about it to much.

Jack,

scratches will happen, but sometimes you can do something about them. What kind of knives are they? what kind of blade finish, satin polished, bead blasted, ect. what knid of blade steel? could you be doing this sharpening them?

Theres a chance that they could be fixed easily, send me an email, Im in cols also.
hope this helps

I just removed some scratches from a Swiss Army knife just to see if I could do it. I used Maas and it worked great. I've heard Flitz works well too. Just make sure you get the metal polish in either case. I was able to get a mirror finish but had to resharpen the knife because the blade dulled. No problem there, I use a lansky system so it sharpened the knife nicely without adding scratches.

But like stated above, the scratches add character and you'll probably add scratches the first time you use the knife.

Cut turf, brush, whittle with it, clean some chickens... all kinds of good stuff. Then there'll be more scratches than blade and you won't worry about it.

As you can tell, I ain't a collector...

Just use, abuse, sharpen and love.

SHAME! You should not have a KNIFE. You should have knapped FLINT! Neanderthal behavior!

Knives are for having Point Seven photos taken of them.

And you probably even CUT things with it.

SHAME!!!!

I think I have a problem with my knives that don´t have scratches, means I don´t use them, I probably don´t like them, maybe they are not good. Someone once said that if you haven´t abused your knife you haven´t really used it.

If you feel like you have all the time in the world, then pick up a set of sandpaper (from course to very fine) and try to reproduce the finish.
I'd leave it as it is if I were you.
