Hi guys i just recieved my new burnt orange cpm 154 kershaw blur but to my disappointment and shock there were some scratches right out of box!

here is pic as best i could take

It it worth sending back? Was thinking about keeping it as safe queen so would it devalue the blade at all? The clip also has some suspicious scratches...

Where/who did you get it from? That would never make it past Kershaws QC IMO. I've bought blemished knives with less marks on them than that.

If it were a user, I'd just live with it. But for something that you're going to keep in the safe, I'd want it to be free of flaws.

I actually got it from knifeworks....

You think kershaw's warranty would cover this? or should i just send it back to knifeworks?

heres a pic of the clip too it looks suspiciously used...

I'd be questioning knifeworks about it first. Like I said above, Kershaws QC dept is outstanding. Not that a few couldn't fall through the cracks or anything, but to me that is a large enough blemish that they would've noticed. I'd contact KW first, if nothing can be remedied there, I'm sure Kershaw would be more than happy to fix the situation. Their customer service is also top notch.

thanks 00chevyscott i'll give knifeworks a call tomorrow when they're open.

Hope it don't get another one in this condition :o

The clip on the other hand looks normal to me for a coated clip. My Boa came exactly like that, which I believe is probably from bouncing around in the box.

Yeah, dont mind the clip much but the scratches on the blade are really bothering me i wouldn't have minded if i did them in use but WTH right out of box =[

Thanks for listening to me whine. lol :D

Blade scratches are unusual, give them a quick call. Pocket clip wear like that from parkerizing is normal. All of Kershaw's black clips look like that :)

my Ti Tyrade had scratches like that on the blade new...I just dealt with it. I caused a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny 1/4 of a mm^2 scratch in the Ti myself, now THAT drives me nuts

beautiful blur btw...love the orange and cpm154 steel

Yes, too beautiful to come with that scratch.

Send it back and let us know what happens.

Sent my blur back last week and received it back today, this time it came with no scratches (thank god). Knifeworks did a good job of responding to my emails and sent me a replacement quite quick. :]

The torsion bar on this blur seems a little stronger and fires a little harder also no scratches on the clip! Good job knifeworks.

Good deal! Glad they made things right for you

They will give you a brand new one no questions asked. Kershaw replaced my sons AO chive that he dropped and snapped the tip off (his fault) brand new knife. Great warranty!

I don't know that I'd incur the cost of shipping and such to fix the scratch. I suspect someone at Knifeworks did it and just put it back in the box as Kershaws come from the factory fairly clean. I also think the scratch could be buffed out without too much trouble. If you're going to use the knife for light duty (like I do for some of my favorite knives), it might be worth replacing it. One thing I hate on knives with painted screws or clips with finishes that wear quickly, it doesn't take long to mar them. I don't know about the Blur, but if it bothers you, get it replaced. Who needs the hassle?

Well shipping it back only cost me a little over 2 bucks so it wasn't horrible. And yes, it bothered me ALOT
