Hey guys, I read somewhere on this forum its actually the softer material that creates the scratches on the harder coatings and it was possible to remove them. If this was true, how do I remove these scratches off my Benchmade?

Scratches are from an aluminum can. The scratches even look like the aluminum from the can, I can tell because some parts of the blade have the coating gone already:mad: and looks different. Any help would be appreciated, although I don't mind this used look.

You could try cutting a few more cans until it has an attractively worn appearance

I've even had luck with spit on my thumb! If it's just deposited aluminum, it shouldn't take much to remove it.

Cerakote is a "relatively" soft coating, it's harder than stuff like copper and most aluminum but not by much, it's a very hard resin with boron nitride lubricating ceramic particles in it. Ultrasonic cleaning works best on that sort of fouling, otherwise a good penetrating oil will get under the aluminum and let you wipe it off eventually.
