I just scratched my brand new sebenza handle. i was wondering if anyone else has scratched theirs. Also if i get some fine sand paper, would it be possible to sand- polish the handle smooth. Ive used a green pan sponge and it left little scratches...so now i need a way to polish it smooth...thanks in advance for any advice.

A plain sebenza handle scratches pretty easily, but for most here, I believe feel that such scratches are character marks.

Sooner or later you'll appreciate them and worry about them less.

They will just about show scratches if you look at them hard! But as Dave said, "character marks". It is possible to take some fine grit, I used 600 grit before, and polish the handles a bit. Sorta funny as all 4 of my sebs are wood inlaid models and the polished frame is pretty scratch resistant! :D :)

Leave it as is. Over time you will get lots of Micro scratches that add a lot of character. Now that you've scratched it you can relax and just use it for all manner of fun.

The one thing I do is dedicate my right front pocket to just this one knife. Okay maybe a few peppermints too but no coins or keys. They will jamb in the frame and damage the edge as well as the ti frame.

The only way they can take out a scratch from a Regular finish is to send it back to CR and they will sand blast it. Personally I like my knife to have that frequently used look. Enjoy.

Don't sweat it like the others have already said. My small Sebbie has several scratches and I have come to realize that they come with the territory. Enjoy your Sebbie and let the scratches come. ;)

Personally, I prefere a smooth finish to the blasted. The blasted finish scratches very easily. What I do is after a little time when the marks on the Ti handles become unsightly I polish them to a smooth finish with a fine steel wool. I think the look and feel is much better. In addition, it is much easier to keep the look brand new with a little touch up with extra fine steel wool.

Hi guys,

I just received an Flat Ground Sebenza dated 2/4/2003 and the handles have been re-blasted with a lot finer medium leaving the handles very smoothly finished but still offering a lot of grip. However this smoother finish is a lot more resistant against scratches.

The flat ground stone tumbled blade has a bunch of light scuffs/scratches but I don't care, it adds as has been said "character" to the knife.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Got A LOT of scratches... some of them are even inlayed with 24K gold... yeah, my wedding ring marks :)

Remember: sebenza = work, work = scratches... so scratches on sebenza are simply natural. Use it & enjoy it!
