ok so im ordering a sheath for my SSLE im pretty sure im getting a taco style but do the tend to make more scratches on the blade?

From my experience as long as there are no dirt or grit and the sheath fits well, there shouldn't be any scratches but if your going to use the knife/sheath in the field it will be pretty hard to keep it clean and you will most likely get some scratches. If you get a leather sheath dirt and grit will do the same thing. Not too sure which is better though.

When I've had kydex done before, it scratched my knives up. Not sure if it was something left in the kydex or what, but it became scratched from merely unsheathing and sheathing it. If I was going to safe queen a knife, I'd have a leather sheath made for it to lay beside it (Never store a knife in a sheath, too much opportunity for rust to form from humidity/moisture/etc)

Collectors piece, do not sheath at all. Though the high quality leather used by the makers around here wouldn't disturb the blade. Certainly NO Kydex for collectors pieces even if it fits correctly. Just sheathing it and placing it in at angle the blade could come into contact and scratch it.

That's why you should just use them all!!!!

Dirt in the sheath will cause scratches regardless of what the sheath is made from. Get what you want and be sure to wipe the blade off before placing it in the sheath.

a quality kydex shouldnt leave kydex kisses
I know Al uses spacers and smoothes everything out so his don't
I would agree with the rest safe queens shouldnt get inserted into sheaths of any kind, perhaps some nice leather to aid in display
as far as users go, why worry, the more scratches the better!

If the scratches bother you, buy some flitz or mothers wheel polish. Takes em right out...

I have inserted a brand new satin INFI into a brand new kydex custom sheath and yes!!! it scratched the blade.

Kydex for users or coated!

I keep my ASHLE in kydex. No scratches unless I get dirt or accumulated dust type crud into the sheath. Honestly, I really do get wanting what is best but Leather can be worse. The big problem with either is when dirt get imbedded in the sheath material. Leather is harder to keep up inside where kydex you can just hose right out. If you are going to sheath and carry a knife it will get scratched no matter how careful. I understand but once I gave up on caring I was a lot happier overall :)

Scratches??? :D

Get some gouges in your knife! Beat that sucker and put it away filthy! :D

Give it some character. Make it yours :)
