Scratching a blade while buffing with Dremel. Solution?

Where I live there is just no way to have a wheel buffer that needs to be secured on a table or something so I am using my Dremel on a few pieces which I want to work on. Problem is sometimes the tool tends to slip. This happened the other day with the result being a scratch on the blade. Is there a plastic or rubber piece that can be slid on over the top part where you insert whatever it is you want to use for sharpening? Sorry to say I don't know what the right word is for this so this may be a little too vague. I can take a pic if I am not being clear enough.

Thanks everyone.

I don't know of a rubber piece to cover the fitting. It is a good idea though! One thing I found that helps me to better control the Dremel is the Flex Shaft attachment. With it I can get a better hold and the tool does not slip as much, if any at all.

Thanks very much. I never thought of that. I will check for the model number of my Dremel. Saw some on eBay after your post. Looks like maybe around 20.00 dollars or so should cover it.

Those flex shafts are great. They eliminate the gyroscopic effect of the motor.

I usually use some masking tape. Painter's tape, or electrical. Or combination...

I like using those vacuum suction base vises to hold my knives. That way I can use two hands to control the dremel..Great suggestions above, as well!

flexshaft. maybe try some tape on the collet.

^This. On both points. The flexshaft is a lot easier to control, lighter and a lot less cumbersome, which saves the hands some fatigue. And some tape around the collet will take care of the potential scratch hazard.
