D2, 60 HRC, very dark acid wash finish. (looks like sand blasted)
Measurements: 8" x 1.5" x 0.16"
Handle is self made black/yellow micarta (as usual :) ) with carbon fibre pins.

Unfortunately the kydex sheath which offers many many many different carrying options is not in the picture... :D

I'm still trying to decide what I think of the colors on that micarta. ;) Or to be exact, the colors on it.

But beautiful blade, great lines on it.

So tell us how to make micarta? :)

Or gimme pricing on doing a run of camo micarta, which is one of main reasons I want to do it myself. Linen/rag/canvas(whatever) from old BDUs.

Nice handle! You could play off the bee sting suggestion of those colors... I too like the way you etched your mark on the spine, nice effect. Super knife! Very businesslike. ;)

Hm... I'm not a fan of the colors, but the idea of home made micarta seems pretty cool to me. You could get a nice side business going here if you can figure how to make a good rag micarta...

That's fantastic! I love it! If you could put together a homemade micarta tutorial it would be awesome. Keep up the great work and show us more, please. :)

Home made micarta? It is possible?
I could finally make something out of all those old t-shirts?!?
Yes! A tutorial PLEASE!

I like everything about your knife pix - the shape of the blade, the color & shape of the handle, your signature on the spine, even the grain of the wood your knife is resting on! Congratulations!!

Great Knife!!! I like everthing about it & yes, tell us all about homemade micarta.

Great knife, yellow and black indicate danger zones.
I think you will run a great danger of getting a top price for this fine piece of work.

Puh...first of all thanks for the kind words, i am happy to hear that you liked the knife.

I dont think there is enough to tell about making your own micarta for a complete tutorial. (And i dont think my english is good enough for writing one...)

Its pretty simple. I described my method of making (paper-) micarta when i showed my #11 here in the forums.

I did some experiments with cotton too.
And i am still trying to find out, how to make some nice rag burl micarta, cause this doesn't seems to be available anywhere on this planet. :(
Rag Burl is pretty difficult to produce i think, i am still experimenting...

It should be no problem making micarta out of old BDU shirts or so. Just make sure it is all soaked well and press it with not too much or too less pressure. Too much presses out the epoxy of the material and too less may leave some hidden bubbles in it.

I did the acid wash (its not as dark, as it appears on the photo, but almost) with FeIIICl.
I let it etch for 60 or 90 seconds approximatly.
...it really looks like sandblasted. :D

Thanks for sharing Jester, looks like it's time for mroe experimentation. The plastic wrap on the boards is what I was missing, as couldn't figure out how you keep the micarta from sticking to the boards.

BOth those knives look great, and now I've got something else to add to my list of things to try. :)

Nice work. The laminate looks very good from here. I like the handle work. Lots of patience went into your efforts.
