Hi guys,

I have some pocket clip screws on a few knives (mostly SOG) that seem to have been stripped as they just won't come out. i tried contacting SOG to make certain I was using the right tool (usually a t6 Torx on most of their knives) but no response for a few days. Even took to ordering the same knife and it appears it happened again though I was gentle as could be!

I like these knives and SOG in general, so I ordered a few replacement screws off eBay, but now I need to know which size EZ Out screw extractor is good for a t6 size pocket clip screw. I'm sure I'll get a set that has a few extractors, but I want to make sure the one I get definitely has one that can take out these size/type of screws. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are stripping screws I would get a new, good quality set of Torx wrenches first.

I don't know any good way to fix a stripped screw head without messing up the scales.

Over the years I have run across screw heads that have been stripped from using the wrong size tool or a poor quality tool. When I was asked to get the screw out the first thing I used was a product called Screw Medic by myro. It comes in a 0.5 Fl.OZ bottle. You apply one drop to the screw head insert the tool and remove as normal. It is like an oil with fine grit in the suspension. It fills in the gaps between the tool and the screw head. If you find this you also might want to apply heat via soldering iron to loosen any loctite that might be on the screw. A easy out or screw extractor would have to be quite small for the screws holding on a clip. Good luck.

Thanks guys,

Ron, I do think the loctite may have been part of the problem, that the wrench was having trouble with.

Though to be fair this is one of their more inexpensive models, and on their higher end stuff I don't have this issue.
