The screw that holds the blade to the handle on my CQC-15 keeps gradually loosening as I open and close the blade. Is this an common issue? How could I fix it?

Very common blue loktite applied after grease removal, or plumbers tape over the threads.

I used blue threadlock to stop the pivot screws on my spydie delica and endura from working loose; still holding strong after several months. just follow the instructions on the package (easy to use). good luck.

Another vote for blue Loctite. I haven't had the pivot loosen after a year of constant use.

Thanks for the recommendation. Is Loctite removeable and will it affect the warranty in any way?

Blue loctited is definitely the way to go. It's even recommended by EKI. This link is from the EKI website.

Another option is to replace your pivot screw with one of the new style ones available from EKI. They hold their position much better than the old style pivot screws.

Here is a pic of the two different pivot screws. The Gentleman Jim on top has the old style pivot. The Cqc-10 on the bottom is the new style pivot.

I hope I'm not repeating myself here; I've tried three times to post and haven't seen it added to the thread. Anyway, a few months ago I bought a CQC-15 and have been waiting ever since for the pivot screw to loosen like so many other posters. I just noticed from the picture above that I have the new-style pivot, and so far haven't had to adjust it once. Maybe that minor problem has been corrected permanently by EKI.

I've finally applied some Loctite onto the knife and that appears to have remedied the problem.
While I had the knife taken a part, I applied some WD-40 to it for lubrication. I couldnt find my 3-in-1 oil.
WD-40 was applied to the pivot and some got into the lock surface of the blade. I wonder if that would be an issue, if so, how would I remove the WD-40?
I've since purchased some more 3-in-1, I plan on add a drop later on but im not sure if I need to remove the WD-40 first. Any thoughts?

Depends on your 3 in 1, probally shouldnlt be problem. I know froglube strongly urges not to mix the stuff, but still never seen or heard of any real problems. and if your using the typical rem-oil or whatever that most people seem to use, than you shouldn't really have a problem. At least to my experience.

Clean it off the lock mating surface of the blade....it could cause the lock to slip.
