Hi, unfortunately while cleaning my Southard I lost one of the frame screws on the G10 scale side.

Does anyone have an "extra" one I could buy off them or know the specs of the screw and where I can get one?

I tried Spyderco and I am still waiting for their response. Thanks.

Go to Ace hardware, and start putting screws into the frame until you find one that fits properly. It probably won't be the right head style, so write down the information about it and then order the proper head style with that diameter and pitch online.

Plan A - Contact Spyderco (awaiting response)
Plan B - Internet search
Plan C - Post on BF
Plan D - Go to the hardware store

I was hoping someone would know off-hand what the specs were and save me the trip.

Sorry :o it's what I like to do because it gives me an excuse to go to the hardware store

Wait a second...even though you lost one screw, you have several others still in the handle. Do you have a pitch checker and micrometer?

If you're sneaky you can do it with just the micrometer. http://www.roton.com/identify_threads.aspx this might give you some help, you need the major diameter and the pitch. Can be all in inches, or if metric then threads per cm and major diameter in mm.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Also, I just found this on the Spyderco.com forums:

I think it is M2.3X.4 thread. This size is out there.
OSG (major Japanese tap maker) makes several taps in this size."

I don't think the above specs list will help me but maybe it will help someone. . .

UPDATE: I received an e-mail response from Charlynn at Spyderco yesterday. She wrote me that she didn't have the specs of the screws nor did they generally carry most of the repair parts for knives not made in Golden, however, she would send me a few screws she was able to locate.

How cool is that?! Very happy.
:D
