Screwed my BK's...with stainless !

Well, it took me a while to find the fasteners, as most hardware stores here don't have them. They are stainless steel with ny-lok nuts. Washers do not fit on Becker handles btw, and are unnessesary. With lock-nuts , potential loosening and loss is pretty much eliminated. They are a little taller than plain nuts, but more secure.

Sorry about the fuzzy pics. I am considering a BK7 for the pack also, so I bought an extra set of screws.. I am really liking these blades! I also recommend putting a sleeve of bicycle tire innertube on the grip , if you want to increase grip. I bet a few of you guys have done these mods already, but just wanted to post mine as well.

Please read this:

Extremely popular question... From Toooj '''The Fasteners for the BK-2, 3, 7, 77, 9 are Socket Head Cap screws #10-24 x 5/8" L. The BK-11 Screws are #6-32 x 5/8" (Not positive on the length) Socket head Cap screws. You should be able to go to any hardware store and buy these'''

i can definitely see the need for the lock nuts on the bigger blades if you do alot of chopping.

heh, nice thread title. scared me for a split second there! i thought it was something to do with sharpening with a power tool gone bad.

About the inner tube: I did that awhile back on all of my Beckers. For me, the rubber created blisters very quickly especially while chopping. It gives more grip than the standard handles, but the hot spots it causes are not worth it imo.

Truth be told, I haven't done any long term chopping yet ( but, oh yeah, I will! )

If the inner tube thing causes a problem, I'll scrap it. I seen it done , so I thought I'd try it anyways.

Hi there I'm in Montreal.
I was wondering if you got them at Canadian tire or something
I'm thinking of upgrading my BK2 and my BK9s as well !
Thanks !

They let you own knives in Canada? Just kidding. Great idea with the stainless screws, thanks a bunch!

I tried at CT , no luck. Try a specialty fastener place ( industrial perhaps.) That's you're best bet. The 5/8" length is not very common.

I recently did the same thing. My local hardware store had them. Much easier if you ask someone to help you sort through the dozens of drawers.

instead of rubber if your worried about grip there was a couple threads awhile back if you search, about stipling the handles with a soldering iron etc. Looked pretty cool.

Where can I buy these in Canada ?
thanks

McMaster.com or Fastenal.com will have them, McMaster takes about one day to get to me. I work about 2 miles from my local Fastenal, so that's my go-to place. Grainger will probably have it also.
