Hello All,

I just got a large Sebenza 21. My girlfriend bought it for me, God bless her!

I was noodling around with it, as I do with all my new knives, and noticed that the screws are different. They are now hollowed out on both sides. There is no more flat polished head on the backside of the scale.

I call CRK and they said that they've changed them and are making them in-house now and the others are no longer available...

I don't know how I feel about these new screws. They create an open and hard to reach place for stuff to collect with no advantage that I know of. Anyone have a Sebbie with these new screws? They're the same as the screw used on the Umnumzaan now.

I'll end with a funny story about my girlfriend that's just too classic. I said to her, "I said Sebenza is Zulu. Do you know what it means?" She said, "Expensive?" LOL!

I have 'em on my new small 21. They haven't been an issue for me so far. The whole thing gets sprayed with some canned air once a week or so, so nothing has much of a chance to collect in there.

On the old screws as you would take the knife apart over the years they would start to spin when trying to fasten. I think this is why the new ones have the extra hole, so if it starts spinning you can use another Allen key and stop the female part from spinning. It happened to me and had to use a inner tube on a table (to stop the female part from spinning, just could not get it with my fingers) to stop the female part from spinning as I try to fasten the screws.

So IMO they are an improvement on the old ones.

Great Girlfriend you have there........My wife hates when I even look at my knives. I have to fondle them after she goes to bed. And its also a safe bet my wife would Never Ever buy me a sebenza.....lol. The rest of my family thinks any knife over $40 is WAY Too Much. I am all alone here.......lol. Such is life I guess !!!

Yeah, I'm very happy with the girlfriend. She bought me a 1911 and a Sebenza. Those are the two best gifts I've EVER received. She doesn't mind the guns and knives. Even listens to me ramble about them when I'm in that mood.

All this even though I'm pretty sure she KNOWS any knife over $40 is WAY too much! C'mon, we could all really get by with an FRN Delica... Just wouldn't be as happy!

Ah! That's what I was looking for. I wouldn't the Chris would change something around for no reason. I didn't think they looked quite as good, but it's good to know there's a reason. Glad to know it was an improvement made for an existing reason!

Thanks!

True, you would be miserable :)

I had been a big fan of flipping screws, so when I saw the new screws I was not happy about them. But after I bought a new plain 21, I grew to love the look. Made me flip a bunch of my others back.
