Hello fellow SOG owners, I am looking to expand my SOG collection. I at this time only have two and its the Seal pup and the Flash II. I love these blades:D I am curious about the knives I mentioned above, I really like the designs of the Scuba and Recon. Anyone ever handle these? How do they feel? and Do they hold an edge well? Thank you guys ahead of time for your answers.

The Scuba/Demo is sweet!! Got to handle a limited edition worth around $750 made out of Damascus steel. Sooo cool. If I had the cash it would be my every day user. Even the standard model is really nice.

As for the Recon Bowie, I'm sure Carl AKA New Pig Hunter can fill you in as to how sweet it is. ;) Both are hightly rated SOG knives.

Oh Yeh, the Recon Bowie is IMHO one of the most cool-looking knives ever made. Great feel in the hand, nicely balanced. I'm also a big fan of SOG's SK-5 carbon steel and my Recon Bowie is always razor sharp, takes an edge and keeps it very well. I've owned mine for about 3-1/2 years now and have no complaints/concerns/criticisms whatsoever.

I've never even seen in-person a Scuba/Demo, and for whatever reason have never added one to my SOG collection. But I'll go out on a limb here and offer my "unbiased" opinion that it too is a fantastic knife. No reason for me to think otherwise.

Cheers,

Carl

Thanks for the reponses guys, I will most surely consider getting the Recon Bowie. Its one of the most unique knives I have seen. How well do you think it would do if you had to use it in some hand to hand combat Pig? I know its a hypothetical question, but I just want your opinion. Thanks again,

Brandon

I'm not a knife fighter kinda guy, and haven't had any knife-fighting training at all (maybe one of these days..... I just need a pal to finish a sheath for me... hint hint). So the "ideal" fighting knife design characteristics aren't something I would understand or have knowledge of.
And as with all things, some folks will like a certain design, and other folks will want something else.

But because SOG's Recon Bowie is patterned after the Real-Deal Special Operations Group Recon Bowie created during the Vietnam War, I reckon if the design was good enough for those behind-the-lines warriors, it's one heck of a fighter.

Cheers,

Carl
