I have an old BM that is in top condition except for some scuffing on the blade finish. It really makes no difference in its use, of course...but if I ever decided to trade it off, what would be the best way to restore the cosmetic appearance to its fullest potential? Thanks. Ed

Ed, Once you scuff them they are altogether no good.

As a favor to you, in a gesture of compassion, I would take that battered, borderline useless hunk of INFI that once was off your hands for say $40.00.

Once theey're scuffed, it's all down hill from there. Only because I care do I offer you anything.

Seriously, Jerry & Company can help you. They aren't doing much of anything anyway based upon the non-delivery of my long awaited Satin Jack.

I may be mistaken, but it is my understanding that the knife can't be recoated, but that Busse can bead blast it for you.

btw, I bid $41:p

Busse will recoat the blade for you, but the cost is $65 .

Here is the response I recieved from Busse, concerning having the blade recoated on one of mine :

We do recoat the blades at a cost of $65.00.  The reason for this price is that we have to take the knife handle off, bead blast the old finish off, send it to the coaters, replace the handle and clean it before shipping it back to you.

You could just hand sand the blade, there are lots of webpages devoted to this subject. It will require some work though if the scratches are deep. Pretty much the first time you use it however they will be back, so if it is being sold as a user blade it should not effect the price anyway.
