Went for a walk on the beach this morning and came across this monster bird footprint ! I took a pic with my 11 yr old sons hand next to it for a size guide !
Any ideas what it was ?

I don't have an immediate answer, but I'll see if I can find out. Can you give me some good approximations of the dimensions of this print?

Right off the bat it looks like a turkey print, but I know better. I would say a Great Blue Heron. I was hunting the swamps of Georgia and one came walking up in the water that was taller than me, biggest one I had seen in my life. He was so big that I had to get the gun up and "scope" him out.

My sons hand is 6" to the tip of his longest finger so I'd guess the print is just over that !!!

I'd guess a Heron, egret, crane, or some other large bird that hangs around water. Not a sea gull. Unless of course it was Seagull-Zilla...

LOL ! Yeah that's what I thought when I spotted it !!!:D
I agree what you say about them swelling slightly though, I have found coon tracks that had swelled before !

I'd have to afree with magneto...I don't know if wild turkeys are indigenous to your area but that'd be my guess follwed by a blue heron...Gulls and similar birds have webbed feet and from what I can see that track doesn't my other guess however would be velociraptor.....So be carefull they hunt in packs...seriously that is one monster bird whatever it is.

It does look like it could be great blue heron... if there is no webbing. I can't quite tell from that picture whether there's webbing if the "webbing" between the toes is just the texture of the mud.

8 inches, not 8 cm.

Take a look at their feet, sometime.
Sorry !:foot:
I have just re-read it and it says the Grey herons ' middle toe ' is 7-8cm so yeah total would be around 6-8 inches !!!

DUH even i know what it is. Its one of Bigfoot chickens that ran away. Dont mess with it cause Bigfoot dont like chicken thiefs.

Ill go with blue heron, or mabey Great Egret,

If you are near NJ though it might be one of our Mutant Canadian Geese, they are 6 feet tall and shoot fire from their asses
