Seal 2000 Sheaths

My Seal 2000 has the blade shaped Kydex sheath with the line cutter groove. I seem to remember once seeing a sheath like it but just missing the groove part.
I could be wrong.
But just quickly cruising the bay I found 4 other versions, a nylon cordura, a straight Kydex plain, a straight Kydex with SOG logo, and a straight Kydex with a vertical ridge. Does anyone have an idea of the chronology and sequence of these sheath variations?
The only thing I have been able to determine is that somewhere around the second half of 2004 people were talking about the change in sheaths to the "newer" ones with the line cutter groove. So I am suspecting that this is the last type. Supporting this is the fact that my Seki Seal Pup also has the same line cutter sheath, but has the bullet logo on the blade.

I also have one that came with the current nylon Seal Team sheath. That one is my minty one. Go figure.

My other Seal 2000 came with the cordura, it is a heavy user but the sheath is in near perfect condition. Needless to say I swapped the sheaths.

I think it will be hard finding a time line on the sheaths as it seams SOG sort of used whatever they had on hand, as in if they found an old box of a certain sheath, even if it was the current sheath, they would use up the old stock. Might try contacting the company.

My SOG Seal came with the above cordura sheath in the photo. I later picked up the blade shaped sheath and it does not have the line cutter groove in it.

Sorry I didn't see this until now Ken. Yes that is what one of my Seal 2000s came with. The guys said it was NIB and it looked that way to me.

im looking foe the old style kydex for my seal team ... i bought it about 18 years ago i cant find one anywhere ??
please help

The Seal Team wasn't in production back in 1997.
I guess you mean a Seal 2000 (1995-2007).
I've never seen an older kydex sheath for sale on it's own, only with the knife.

Ken is right. I have never seen an older kydex for the Seal 2000 for sale without the blade. I am sure the current seal team kydex won't work for it either. Might be a good excuse to get a custom sheath made or buy another Seal 2000!

I had a SEAL 2000 from about 12-15yrs ago. I believe it was an original and it came with the, kydex sheath with the vertical raised channel in the middle. It looks to me to be the best of them all. On the back is a stamp that reads Lynnwood, WA.

Seki Japan blade.

Since that "version" I've seen the other kydex, and then the nylon.

I believe the kydex I had was the first sheath they offered.
