I'm kinda torn between the two. The tigershark is only 6 dollars more than the seal 2000 from where i'm going to order one or the other. The seal 2000 seems big enough to me but is it a waste just to buy the seal 2000 for 90 when i can get the tigershark for 96? TIA.

Before you decide, spend some time handling both.;)
The SEAL2000 isn't as big, but is big enough for most (probably 99%) of the intended uses (BTW - what are they???). The Tigershark is certainly impressive(!!! !!!) but may be too big to carry regularly...:D
Handle them with your uses in mind...:p ;) , and decide that way.
It's a thought...

I think the Seal 2000 is the more popular of the two but as Bobby said handle both and get a feel for what might work best for you.

I'm privileged to have both in my collection and will offer my 2 cents that both handle well. And I gotta laugh when I say that after using the Tigershark for awhile, the Seal 2000 seems positively "wimpy."

And I agree with Bobby B that the Seal 2000 will take care of "all" your knife needs. Both take a great edge, my wife has finally stopped shaking her head over the fact that much of my left arm has remained deforested for several months now.

As a suggestion, you might check directly with Loretta at SOG about purchasing their Factory 2nds. That is where I purchased my Seal 2000 and the price was about 30% less than your price shown above. I just checked: the Seal 2000 is not on the list, but the Tigershark is.
And why was my Seal 2000 classified as a 2nd ?? Because the powder coating was uneven.... and much of it has now been worn away by use and sharpening and stropping.

Cheers,

Carl

Thanks for the replies. I am going to try and find a local store here in Tulsa and see if they have those knives. I have been able to find most of the other knife brands around here but SOG seems to have slipped past me. Thanks again.

If you NEED a BIG knife, by all means get the Tigershark...It's one of the best of the "modern Bowies", IMO.

If you can "get by" with the smaller Seal 2000, get it, as it's one of the best as a "utility/survival/camp" knife.

I have both (as well as the smaller Seal Pup), but if I HAD to choose just one, it would be my Tigershark since it "feels" the best (of the three SOGs) in MY hand, (and I also like its' larger hand-guard).

Well i finally got my SEAL 2000 and its huge! Was a lot bigger than I was expecting even when i read the specs on it about a million times. This knife kix arse though. So sharp and I even drew blood the first time i put the 2000 back into it's sheath. Wasn't paying attention while the serrations grabbed ahold of one of my fingers.

Overall, I would suggest this knife to anyone that is wanting a large tactical knife that has many uses. I was first going to buy a ka-bar but once i felt the handle, it made me put it back down. I also picked this knife for home protection since i'm not old enough to own a pistol and my dad has a shotgun in his room. I'm always needed a big knife to chop at something or cut apart a huge box. I went outside and swung at an old box and it went through it like a laser.

Grab one of these if you don't already have it.

Yup, they're sharp...:o ;)
You're not the first to be cut while not paying attention... I'll bet most here have been at one point or another, or another, or...:p :o

The SEAL 2000 is a big knife. The Tigershark is HUGE... Many like the SEAL Pup for its "carryability"...;)

Glad you like it. Let us know when you have had a chance to use it.

Used my SEAL 2000 today chopping up some twigs and some green wood. Knife plowed right through the stuff. Cut into a 1/4 solid piece of plastic holding this new tree and used the serrations to saw through the rest of it. Very glad I bought this knife already. Was kinda thinking about getting the SEAL Pup, but I'd rather get a hands-on test of it before I bought one.

Anyone have an X-42 Recondo? My friend was looking at buying one and I was interested as well.

SOG rox! :D

DUDE !!

Congratulations !! Fantastic !! yeh, the Seal 2000 is one awesome knife and will do the job for ya.....
When I first pulled mine outta the wrappings that's exactly what I thought, "This thing is HUGE !!"

Just wait till you get a Tigershark home......

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. I haven't cut myself yet, but it'll happen.....

I like my seal knife :)
