For those of you that do not frequent the "other" site, I had to share.:D

I have used my Seal 2000 to the point of major abuse over a period of 3? years.

I have used the knife to clear over 150 miles of heavily wooded trails on my hunting land. We wrecked a Nissan truck (accidentaly :D) in a ditch and the front fender wedged onto a 2 foot diameter tree, which we subsequently had to fell (with the Seal) Took about 1 hour of chopping.

Afterwards the sheathed knife was used tighten a rope (twisting the rope with the knife)to help pull the truck back a little bit so the wheels could get traction (Word of Advice: Be VERY careful if you ever have to this). No ill effect on the knife there!

It has been used for sport Knife throwing many, many times into pines and one rather surprised squirrell-(Don't want to hear any "ruined warranty" gripes-with this knife you do not need a warranty)

I have used the knife as a foothold/handhold whilst wedged in various trees, and always use it to hang items on while in rather precarious positions.

I unfortunately :( bought mine before the kydex jump safe tactical aficiendo rage kicked in on the production line knives. However the "ballistic sheath" it came with has survived many wet nights and very rough treatment over the years and is still in fantastic condition.

The heft of the knife and its solid feel gives you no doubt to its ability to perform under any conditions.I have stated to many people who look at the Seal, that I would not hesitate to choose this knife as my primary blade in any situation.

I had some doubts as far as the steel, personally I like A-2,O-1, or 154-CM, but SOG did a wonderful job with the heat treating on these knives. It is very easy to sharpen and to regrind the edge (big nail)

As far as corrosion resistance, the blade has won hands down. Through so much use the coating has worn off over most of the knife. I very rarely dry the knife after use, just drop it in the sheath. Never once has it even shown the slightest trace of rust, so the coating seems to have given the steel a very good base with which to fend off rust (and in the south, with the humid air that means alot!)

It currently has its place as my truck knife and is never far from my hand when I need a "major" knife.

I have purchased, used, and sold many production blades, but I have kept this one and will keep it till I break it! Then I will buy another one. :D

I also own a SOG Bowie though have never used it. It does have a great solid feel to it, I just think the SEAL is a better user. The bowie is just to "pretty" to use. (nice shiny blued finish) and handle is too slick for my tastes. The SEAL pup is also a great little knife, but if I had each within reach I would go for the larger.

In conclusion of this rather long winded shameless plug for the SEAL knife, whether you are planning to freefall out of a plane into the Alaskan wilderness for a month long survival course, or making your way to the local neighborhood KFC at night, choose the SEAL.
