A co-worker just asked what knive the Seals carried in Viet Nam. I'm sure that most carried a K-bar or something similar. My co-worker thinks they had a "special" issued knive. Anyone know.

Though SOG Nam era bowies are worth a small fortune today, I dont think many if any carried them. I believe they either carried Kabar's or whatever they picked up on their own.

Mostly F-U knives(Kabars), but Gerber Mark II's were popular, as were the Nemo dive knives, but I'm not sure if they were issue. The Imperial Non-Magnetic UDT knife would've of been issue also, although limited.

I'm sure most used what ever was handy(F-U's, Mark I, Pilots knives, standard machetes, personal knives, etc...).

hi!
I can tell you that still now a lot of specials units still didn't have "special issued" knives...most get a standart bayonette and each member buy his own knife.
The standart issued back then was a Ka-bar or Camilius MKII. A kind of shortened Ka-bar with a clip point, saw on the back and black plastic handle.
Hope it help...
