I am thinking of getting a seal pup for hunting.
Does it hold an edge well and is it easy to reshapen?
Or should I go with a cold steel Master hunter? Thanks
for any help you can give.

The steel of the Seal Pup is AUS-6, and yes, it does hold a pretty good edge, and is very easy to re-sharpen. It is also very rust/stain resistant. Buy one...You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the info. I need a sharp knife and was concerned
that the seal pup would not be a slicer but a pryer.
Thanks again.

In the Sog forum you will probably be advised by most to buy Sog:D

I have both the knives you have mentioned and the Seal pup is streaks ahead IMO

Have fun.

I don't think Cold Steel's quality or quality control is near SOG's. You won't be disappointed with the pup I bought one about 5-7 weeks ago and love it. If only it was not partially serrated it would be the perfect fixed blade knife for me (hint, hint).

I've not used mine enough to say how well the edge holds, but it does sharpen easily. It's a good little knife. However, I also agree that, it would be a better knife if it did not have serrations. It needs a little more cutting edge.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It is, of course, hard to please everyone, but do try our best. :)

For those of you wishing a non-combat, small fixed blade knife for hunting/hiking/camping (etc.), you've gotta look at the Field Pup. This thing is perfect. And for you guys not wanting serrations, we listened! Go ahead and click on the link above and read the specs.
