SEAL Pup Elite question

I purchased a partially-serrated SOG SEAL Pup Elite close to a month ago, and I have a question regarding the way that the angle of the grinds on either side of the blade are uneven. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me whether or not this is normal? I searched the internet, but could find nothing saying the edge comes ground unevenly. I emailed through the support feature on the SOG website over 3 weeks ago with this same question, but have yet to hear back from them. I am very happy with the durable feel, and many of the design features, but I'm worried the grind could be a factory defect. I downloaded the manual, but it was not specific to my model. If someone could even point me in the right direction to get in touch with SOG, it would really help. Thank you.

I have (5) SOG fixed blades. No Seal Pup, however. All my grinds are equal side to side.
If it is sharp, and your going to use it, I would not worry about it.
Or, you could sharpen it and even it out.
If it is a collection knife, I would keep looking for the info you need.

I appreciate the response. Sharpening it is a good suggestion since I bought it to use it, and will need to sharpen it eventually anyhow. I am interested in and plan on learning how to properly sharpen my own knives. The problem is I'm just not there yet. Since it is so noticeably uneven, I also worry that attempting to fix the problem will end up making it worse. Not to mention, I just purchased it. If it actually is a defect then I would like to believe that SOG would make it right. If anyone from SOG sees this, I would really appreciate some help getting to the bottom of this. If you or any other members have any other suggestions I'm all ears.

You have two edges on your knife. The straight edge is made with a double bevel. The serrated edge is made with a single bevel, (like a chisel). You do use different techniques to sharpen the two edges.

All SOG products guaranteed for the life of the original purchaser, however improper maintenance will void the warranty. You mentioned the you bought the knife used so it may be the previous owner sharpened it improperly. You can mail your knife to SOG and they will sharpen it for $12. if you find yourself in the Lynnwood, WA area you can stop by their retail headquarters and they will sharpen it for free. If you interested in sharpening your Seal Pup yourself I have an article at my website. http://bestsogknives.com

I bought the Seal Pup Elite with the straight edge and kydex sheath and had the same issue with the grinds. I contacted SOG and spoke directly to the warranty dept. and explained my setback. I was told to send it in "prepaid" and they would look after it for me. I did as I was instructed and they fixed the grinds and returned it to me within 2 weeks at no return cost to me. (I live in North Central B.C. Canada and SOG is in Lynnwood Washington USA) I would contact them and explain your concerns and see what can be done. In my opinion SOG is a great company who stands behind their products. Good luck friend and welcome to the SOG family; I hope it is as good to you as it is to me.
