I am thinking of getting one here in Canada at Knifezone ( $127 CD) Anyone who has it-how does it perform in the bush and at camp for general use, fishing, whittling etc ? It's Aus-8 so I know how that sharpens up.
Thanks,

Pete

ps,It comes with kydex sheath right?

Its got really nice ergonomics and mine came really sharp. I think most come with the nylon sheath but I am not 100% sure. You could probably find ones that come with the kydex sheath although it might cost a little more. Message the seller and they'll be able to tell you which sheath it comes with.

hiwa,

From what I hear they are nice knives, though Taiwanese made, hold up to heavy bushcraft use quite well. You can check out one of our member's:"mistwalker" review here and also on our page which shows his photos as well. Mistwalker is a member on bladeforums and has done a few reviews on SOG's newer knives, mainly the Seal Pup Elite, Super Bowie and the Tigershark Elite.

A very nice knife indeed and takes an edge well and holds it reasonably. Nice and affordable handy knife. It's not too heavy and is the ideal backpacker's knife.

Cheers,
Mark ;)

i have the seal pup elite it is very sharp and it is made in taiwan. I think the blade is aus-6 or aus-8. Aus-6 is more rust resistant. You should go and pick this up right away.

The Seal Pup Elite is one of my favorite SOGs. I used mine around the camp and everyone wanted to borrow it. It carries well, takes and holds a good edge, has good ergonomics, and does anything you could expect of a knife that size. I like it much better than the Team Leader, which cost a bit more.

I also own one and have nothing but good experiences with it. It is AUS-8 as you know and I own both sheaths. I personally like the nylon sheath because it has a super handy pouch on the front and carries very well on any belt. Which ever sheath you choose, you will not be sorry for buying it. I also recommend you look online for a cheaper price. I got mine for 65 dollars with the nylon sheath.

I think I will definately buy it on-line, as the B&M stores are too high for my liking. One place is $100 plus $65 !!

I have both the seal pup and the elite and I am more impressed with the elite model as it seems like a much higher quality knife. Now please don`t thing the seal pup is junk it is just that they are not just slightly different versions of the same knife they are as different as can be,the elite feels much larger even when held next to the regular pup and you know there is not much difference. The regular pup feels like a large comfortable super sturdy folder and the elite feels like a kabar type fixed blade in hand. I have not used mine much but it think you will not be dissapointed with the elite just look for a better price than the $100+ some places want. P.S. I got both of mine from the exchange here on the forums in perfect condition.

Hey just so you are aware there is one in the exchange right now for $45 .It`s not mine and I don`t know the guy selling it but it`s a good deal.

Aus-8 sharpens nicely, seal pup elite fits so good in the hand. I have two elite's a very good knife. But I am now a RATaholic!! I'd get a RC-3 or RC-4!!
