Just wondering if anyone has used the new Seal Pup Elite yet and what your opinions are. I was considering the Seal Pup at one time for a canoeing knife but now I am wondering if the new Elite would be better. I got to handle them side by side this weekend. Elite was a little more comfortable but not drastic. It is suppose to have a thicker blade but the new one looks a little hollow ground. Probably better for slicing and with this size knife I don't know that I would need the thick edge. Not sure I like the notches on the top. I guess they could serve some purpose notching and the like.

I have never been canoeing so I dont know the chores that involve cutting in it but I own the seal pup and can say its a great knife. Feels great in your hand and has a very good blade shape along with excellent corrosion resistance which you want when your around water. The kydex sheath is also great for around water because its water proof and it wont be ruined. Overall its a great knife and would definiteley reccommend it  .

I really don't know that I was looking for any specific cutting chores related to canoeing, although those serrations would probably come in handy. I really like all of the water resistent qualities. You could probably go swimming with that sheath and not hurt anything. Can't see swimming with my Becker. I do know that when I was considering the Seal Pup originally, some said that it wasn't much of a slicer. The Elite looks like it may have solved that problem.
