Do all powder coated Seal Pups have Seki-Japan marked on them?

I ask... as even Sogs site http://www.sogknives.com/sealpup.htm shows a plain side with no Seki-Japan on it... why is that?

the first ones were probably made locally

All SEAL Pups have been made in Seki-Japan. I think the one used for images was a prototype and may not have had all the final markings on it. That picture was taken long before I started with SOG.

its just when I have been searching on the net for this knife there seems to be a load of pics where the side is blank... or at least blurred (photochopped)... could be that they are fake I guess... dunno. But thanks for your reply

Is there any way of dating Seal Pup's, I got mine 2nd hand and would like to know its age...

There is not really any good way to determine the age of a SEAL Pup. They have been made the same for the past 6+ years.

Would the sheath (if it is original) be a good way of dating them?

The sheath, if original, could give you a rough estimate of when it was made.

i've had mine for about 3 years...it has the old style sheath (the plastic part ran the length of the grip), i hated it because it you could not get a good grip on the handle to draw it quickly, i cut the top part off...i use it mainly for diving (marine) and it's held up well so far, but i make sure to keep it protected w/ eezox. i have not torture tested it like i have my recon tanto but it seems reasonably tough for my uses.
