I am deciding between the Seal Pup and the mini-Pentagon. I am looking for a good tactical knife that can be doubled as a boot knife, and if necicssary be thrown in. Which knife is a better buy? Are both balenced?
Thanks for your help.

I don't know about the mini pentagon but the full size version would probably break if ya threw it into anything very hard. It has a pretty fine point. I think the pup would make a better utility knife and would be stronger but the mini pentagon might have the advantage in SD and ease of carry.

I'd go with the SEAL Pup.. It's designed to handle more utility work then the Pentagon and Mini Pentagon, plus it's stronger. The Pentagons are daggers that double as utility knifes. I have both of the Pentagons and love them, Used them to cut rope, open packages of food and have even used them to saw 1.5" limbs of oak trees for walking sticks.... But I think I would go with the SEAL Pup for what you describe.. Normally I carry a SOG Tech I, Bowie, or Government as my main knife, then one of my Pentagons as backup hidden on my gear but still with in easy reach. :)

I'd favor the Seal Pup. Mine's been camping and hunting with me, plus some gratuitous show-off use as the baddest steak knife in the house...excells at all and a bit more all-around blade shape than the Pentagon. Kydex sheath is stout , secure, and light. Mine doesn't have the groove, so no opinion to offer there.

Boot-knife? You'll need some pretty big boots... ;)
