Need an answer from the experts. I just received my SEAL Revolver today.. :) but i have a question about it. Originally when i bought it, i had asked if it had a plain edged blade vs the combo and the seller told me yes. So my question to you all is did or does the SEAL Revolver come in a plain edged model?

Thanks,

Guard....

Here is a quote from another forum:

There was never a "plain edge" clip point (SEAL) model produced, the pictures of a plain edge were taken of a "prototype" that was never made.

So I guess the answer is no, it would have been cool though.

P.S. How you liking the Revolver?:D

I like it alot, can't wait to try it out. I am a little dissappointed it isn't a plain edge but I'm sure I'll get over it though :D

Cheers,

At first, that was the one i was gonna get. Then i saw that photo that you listed above and decided on it since i prefered the kydex sheath. Anways, still glad i got it and can't wait to test it out.

/sigh i guess that means i need to get that Gov-Tac that has been taunting me. ;)

Cheers,

Guardrail, glad you like the Revolver.

No, it was never made in a plain edge, but I think you'll find out the serrations really make a difference if you need to cut through something of a tougher nature.

I use the plain part of the Revolver blade to cut a multitude of things, and then occasionally I run in to something that just needs a little extra ripping power and then is when he serrations really shine.

As Socintel said, the Hunter Revolver is the only Revolver that has a plain, flat grind blade. Though the Double Action does have a Tanto blade that is a plain edge, but the clip is part serrated.

The SOG Revolver is a great knife especially since you never really know it has a hidden blade unless you rotate to it. And that saw cuts like crazy, I hope you enjoy it.

One thing I would really like to know, I generally ask most people that handle the Revolver for the first time. What was your initial "FIRST" Reaction to the Revolver knife once you rotated the blade to the saw and felt the teeth ?

Please keep us posted on you Revolver, thank you.

Robbie Roberson. ;)

I must admit I was quite impessed with the teeth. The first thing that came to my mind was this thing looks like it was modeled after a sharks jaw.
I got it late last night, so I can't wait to cut something up this evening.

I chose this knife for a couple of reasons. First the pure functionality of it and second, I've been looking for a hiking, around the house/yard work knife. As much as I like my Tigershark, it's a bit too big for those purposes. I live in San Diego and the county parks is where I usually go hiking. I used to get the evil eye from the Park rangers there for carrying such a big blade. So this is sized just right.

So far, I think i'm gonna love it though. My only concern at this point is the thinkness of the saw side. Although tightly locked in, there is a bit of room for the blade to go side to side.

Cheers,

Guardrail, the saw blade will not move because pressure exerted while cutting with the main blade creates a "downward force" causing the saw blade to exert pressure on the lock pin, making it tight, therefore not allowing side to side movement.

When trying the saw, start with a one inch or so piece of "round" wood to get the hang of how the saw works, smooth steady, "not forced" cuts is all it takes.

You will eventually see just how useful it is to have a straight knife, like most, but also have an emergency saw blade just in case you ever need firewood or to build a shelter.

had to stick my two cents in here, cuz i just love my seal revolver. it is the knife that goes on the belt with my .22 revolver and goes with me on my trapline. saw comes in handy for cutting wood stakes, and the blade will skin beaver real well. those serrated edges will go through the knuckle joints of beaver and deer. oh, and that saw will cut through the pelvic bone of a deer also. i put a convex edge on mine to get it back to hair shaving sharp.
one of these days maybe we will see a mini revolver(no pressure Robbie, really i am kidding! :D )

Web2, thanks for the input, I am really glad the Revolver works good for you.

You carry a .22 Cal. Revolver heh ? :D One of my favorites by far. :D

Yes, a mini Revolver is one of my hopes, maybe in the future.

Not too far from there, I live south of Knoxville about 25 miles, near the Smoky Mountains national park.

Is the Ruger Revolver easy to hit with ? Never fired a .22 ruger except the semi-auto version, bull barrel.

Robbie Roberson ;)

Robbie - rugers revolvers are easier for me cuz that is what i grew up shooting.

my parents live in Memphis and i go up there every once in awhile
